Who is CruCon Designed for?
CruCon is designed as a discipling resource for facilitating intergenerational conversations at the intersection of faith & culture. While the intended users are high school-aged youth and their parents/pastor/mentor, we can imagine the process also being viable for young adults.
Because of the mature nature of some of the themes, we generally do not recommend CruCon for middle school-aged youth (with the exception of our foundational Wisdom & Media series, which is designed for any teenage youth).
Can I do CruCon by myself?
No. CruCon is specifically designed to move us away from mere content consumption towards community connection through crucial conversations. Because conversations take more than one person, so does CruCon.
What is a “Discipler”?
Our goal is to empower parents/pastors/mentors to disciple the youth in their lives through engaging in crucial conversations at the intersection of faith & culture. A discipler therefore is any adult participating in CruCon as a part of a Conversation Pod (see below).
What is a “Conversation Partner?”
A Conversation Partner is a trusted community leader (pastor, teacher, etc.) who has been trained to lead a Conversation Cohort within their own community’s context.

What is a Conversation Pod?
Conversation Pods are the basic building blocks of CruCon. Often this will be within a household but could also include a pastor or mentor meeting with a youth. These are intergenerational groups made up of a minimum of one adult and one youth/young adult. However, a Conversation Pod may include up to 4 people with ratios of no more than one adult per youth (i.e if two parents wanted to do CruCon we request that they have at least 2 youth participants).
What is the difference between a “Pod” and a “Cohort”?
CruCon is scalable from one parent/pastor/mentor meeting with one youth, all the way up to a trusted community leader hosting a Conversation Cohort with up to 60 participants. But every size is built off of the “Pod” as the primary building block.
A “Cohort” is comprised of between 5-15 “pods” and requires a trained “Conversation Partner.”
While both contexts can be beneficial, whenever possible, due to the power of the cohort model, we prioritize the training of Conversation Partners to lead a Cohort.
What is a “Conversation Piece”?
In our mission to transform content into connection through conversation, the CruCon team curates the very best content from leading Christian creators, thinkers, and practitioners. That content (which may be a book, a movie, an article, etc) is then outlined throughout a twelve week series as the “Conversation Pieces” around which disciplers will invite their youth into a conversation.
Are all “Conversation Pieces” digital?
No. We believe in the importance of the tangible. Therefore every conversation series includes a physical book, as the anchoring Conversation Piece and a physical Conversation Guide.
What is the difference between a household conversation and a community conversation?
Household Conversations are the weekly gatherings of a given Conversation Pod. Community Conversations are the monthly gatherings when all the Conversation Pods get together, either as a group (2-4 pods) or as a Cohort (5-15 pods).
What is a “Conversation Launch”?
The Conversation Launch is the initial gathering of a given pod/group/cohort in which all participants a) engage the series introductory video, b) submit their series QUESTions, and c) pick up their Conversation Packet.

Do I need to be trained to be a conversation partner?
Yes. In order to ensure that any Conversation Cohort is a success we require all Conversation Partners to complete our 12 week Faith & Gen Alpha training series.
Do I need to be trained to be a CruCon Discipler?
While there is no mandatory training to be a CruCon discipler (parent/pastor/mentor), all disciplers will be given access to helpful instructional videos which we strongly encourage you to engage to ensure that you feel confident as a discipler.
How much Launch time do I need for a Conversation Cohort?
We recommend that any trusted community leader that wants to become a Conversation Partner and launch their own CruCon Series plan for at least 3 months from when they begin the Faith & Gen Alpha Training through to when they have their Conversation Launch.
